HOT HOT HOT! and Dry. Our lawns will start to become stressed. Lawns may go dormant this week until we get some rain and cooler temperatures. Weeds will be actively taking advantage of the heat stressed turf; weeds will be thriving more
What we’re doing:
-
We’ll be shutting down early every day this week for three reasons:
-
-
Weeds shut their pores in high heat. They shut down to preserve their internal nutrients. Us spraying the weeds after about 88* will be wasted effort and product.
-
Heat tracking (image right) occurs when you drive (or walk!) over turf grass plants that are in the process of going dormant. The grass blades will be crushed and the above ground blade will die. This typically happens above 90* so we get off our clients lawns well before then.
-
We’re human and it’s hot outside!
-
-
-
Our Spring applications which are complete liquid treatments for Spring broadleaf weeds and crabgrass treatment as well as additional crabgrass prevention.
-
Don’t mow during the high heat of the day!
-
Mow as high as your mower will go
-
Water appropriately (amount and timing is important)
