What we’re noticing:
  • Drought Stressed Turf: This is the third week in a row that we’re talking about dry conditions and we’ve seen drought stress. This shows up as the purplish color to the grass.

    1. Some might confuse drought stress for very healthy turf because it’s a “deep” green color but this grass is about to go dormant; “There’s not enough water so I’m going to take a nap and turn brown/yellow until there is”.

What we’re doing:

  1. Our Spring applications which are complete liquid treatments for Spring broadleaf weeds and crabgrass treatment as well as additional prevention.

    • It doesn’t usually happen until July or August but broadleaf weeds love taking advantage of heat-stressed turf. They don’t mind that there isn’t much water and they love that the soil has our ProLawns fertilizer in it for them. All the more important that we’re our broadleaf treatment now.

  2. Hoping for rain. On the 15th we had one one hundredth of an inch of rain; basically nothing since April 28th

What you can be doing:

  1. You NEED TO be watering if your want your turf to stay healthy. Here’s how to water correctly

    • Turf requires input from at least two out of three sources to be healthy and beautiful:

      1. Mother nature (we haven’t had any input here since April 28th)

      2. Home/Property owner (Please water your lawn)

      3. Lawn care company ( ✓ ProLawns has you covered on this one)
