What we’re noticing:
- Well it got hot like they forecast
- 7/14/24: Today we hit 90° at MSP Airport for the first time this year. 🌡️For MSP this is the latest first 90° since 1993 (no 90° temperatures were recorded in 1993) NWS
- It sure wasn’t dry like they forecast…
- 1.66″ of rain in the week since our warning post about the dry forecast. When less than an inch is average 🤣
- Because of this weather Diseases are still very present and getting even more active. The one most notable is Rust (non damaging but annoying)
- There’s even more to consider if you’re not a ProLawns client. We manage all of these things. Here’s what the UMN turf department is seeing with the wet weather.
What we’re doing:
- With the continued rain; it’s business as usual. Fertilizing and weed control.
- We’re about to get into our next round of ProSquito treatment to keep the mosquitos at bay with all the moisture
What you can be doing:
- Ensure your irrigation systems are off (we’ve had very ample rain for our turf)
- Mow at 3″ or above. No need to mow high if you don’t want to. Higher grass will be more susceptible to the Rust disease.
