What We’re Noticing:
- We missed a week for Current Conditions! Typical busy Spring rush kept us away from the keyboard.
- Lawns are waking up finally! We had some good rain last week and some warm weather finally. This week has warm temperatures as well that will create a lot of growth – ensure your mower is ready! See “what you can be doing”
What We’re Doing:
- We’re planning on wrapping up 99% of our Early Spring Applications this week. This is a full 4 weeks earlier than a typical summer!
- We’re completing our first round of Mosquito applications which includes an organic larvicide this year. This is two week earlier than anticipated but the mosquitos are already active. We’re on it!
- We’ll complete our first round of landscape bed grass and weed manicuring services this week.
- We’ll be starting our Spring Renovation services next week. This is our Core Aeration and Overseeding. It’s important to watch soil temperatures so the grass seed is able to germinate and not just sitting around to be bird food. We just barely got there on a 5 day average after this warm weekend for just one of the grass types that we seed with for our West Metro Lawns.
What you can be doing:
- As of right now there’s no need to be watering. Spring rains typically provide plenty of moisture for lawns. We do have on our radar that there’s no rain in the forecast but we’re still good.
- Ensure your mower is ready to be able to keep up with the Spring flush growth! Here’s the very basics to get you taming your lawn quickly. A full service instead of a check is recommended if and when you get time.
- Check the oil level
- Check the air cleaner to make sure it’s not a mouse nest or totally chocking the engine
- Check the blade for significant deformation.
- Check any belts for cracking and tightness.
- Lubricate any moving parts and linkages
- Put a fuel cleaner additive in the fuel
