What we’re noticing:
- The diseases we’ve been seeing all this wet year are still very active
- It’s been cool and very wet and the forecast is for hot weather without any rain. Your lawn, spoiled by the weather so far, could face serious trouble
What we’re doing:
- This season has been consistent and not required any changes to our typical lawn care program. There hasn’t been weather that makes lawns struggle besides some non-damaging diseases. We’re putting down Nitrogen to help with red thread as part but no different that we planning to do
What you can be doing:
With the upcoming hot and dry forecast; you will be able to most significantly change the outcome for your lawn.
- Mowing: The High Road to a Healthy Lawn
- As temps rise, mow HIGH! This is the single most critical thing for a healthy lawn. It’s going to be high 80’s by the end of the week with weekend temps in the 90s. No such thing as mowing “too high” with this forecast (especially without rain)
- Watering: When and How Much
- While it’s important to let your lawn experience some stress, you also need to be prepared to water it if the dry spell persists. Irrigated lawns are particularly vulnerable to drought stress because they’ve become even more accustomed than the rest of the lawns to regular watering.
