What we’re noticing:
- DRY!
-
- We’re in level 2 drought status! How funny that we just got out of drought status in March: Blog post
-
- We’re looking rough! 2022 was the driest growing season since 1910 and we’re doing 40% worse than that so far!
- Disease!
- High overnight temperatures, non-ideal watering, and high mowing all contribute to disease; the worst one we’ve seen is Ascochyta Leaf Blight which, despite is appearance, is not terminal!
- Water appropriately and it will go away. See the “what can you be doing” section

- But we got rain and it’s cool!??
- It is cooler for two days; then back to plenty warm.
- The rain we got was overall 1/10-1/5 of what we need in a week (what we normally average in a week). In the three weeks since our last email; we’ve gotten less than the amount of rain we should have gotten in one week.
- Lot’s of great ProLawns clients!:
- 139 of you have gotten paid $10 to learn how to mow properly!
- 117 of you have gotten paid $10 more to learn how to water properly!
- These two things are 100% necessary to SAVE YOUR LAWN in this heat and drought!
What we’re doing:
- This is a relatively normal week for us. We’re just working on our Spring Fertilizer, Early Summer weed control and Grub Prevention.
What you can be doing:
- You need to be mowing correctly
- You need to start watering correctly
- This doesn’t mean you need to water a ton or every day! It means water smart!
- This ABSOLUTLY doesn’t mean that you because you have a sprinkler system means you are watering correctly. The great majority of watering issues we see are from clients with sprinkler systems vs. without.
