What we’re noticing:

  • Seems the rain taps have shut off after my over-confidant post about not needing these updates. Most of our service area is still in a Level 3 drought having experienced the 6th driest July ever recorded and 15h driest year ever recorded. That’s within the last 128 years. (source)
  • Despite the moisture hardship the lawns are still looking pretty good. The flush growth of both the lawns and weeds has calmed down.

What we’re doing:

  1. Our Fall Applications to begin wrapping up our growing season. While some of what were doing will show pleasant results this year, most of what we’re doing now is setting the perfect foundation for next year. More about our Fall app in the second half of this update

What you can be doing:

  1. Water dry areas as needed (guide)
  2. No need to raise the mowing height this time of year but with the drought and no rain in the forecast, don’t lower it anymore. Mow as needed; Top growth may take another couple week break so don’t drive all over drought stressed turf if unnecessary.
